Here are some handy tips to get IntenseDebate working properly on your Joomla site.
Joomla version 1.6
One of our amazing IntenseDebate users has developed an IntenseDebate Joomla extension called icomments that is compatible with version 1.6. You can download here. Feel free to check out their site at http://meedina.web.id/joomla/23-icomments.html.
RocketWerx IntenseDebate Extension↑ Table of Contents ↑
This is only compatible up to Joomla 1.5. The team at RocketWerx developed an IntenseDebate Joomla plugin called RokComments. If you haven’t already, give RokComments a try. RokComments is available in the Joomla Extensions Repository at http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions/social-web/social-comments/6592 .

- If you haven’t created an IntenseDebate account yet, please do so at http://intensedebate.com/signup .
- When you’re installing IntenseDebate with a Joomla component make sure you check the following:
The Joomla component has two different places where you will need to specify the IntenseDebate site acct id. Setting only one without the setting the other will cause a conflict were IntenseDebate can’t resolve the connection resulting in a communication error.
Make sure you specify the same site acct id in both places. The first is the Admin backend which you can access by selecting the component name. The second is located in the menu where you assign a menu item to the component.
You will need to input the same IntenseDebate site acct id in both places. If you miss either one then IntenseDebate will not load properly and you will encounter an error. Please visit http://intensedebate.com/sitekey/ to access your IntenseDebate site acct id. It is the last value listed.

At the bottom of by posts I receive the error:
We’re having issues locating the IntenseDebate account for this blog. Please email our support team for assistance.
Here’s how you can troubleshoot this:
- Do you have an account?
Make sure you have created an IntenseDebate account and registered your blog. If you haven’t done so, please visit http://intensedebate.com/signup.
- Have you added you site acct id?
After you create an account, go to http://intensedebate.com/sitekey/ to access your IntenseDebate site acct id. You will need to use your site acct id to configure IntenseDebate. See the section above
- Are you using a Joomla Extension?
While you can install IntenseDebate using our Generic Install method, we recommend using the RokComments Joomla Extension developed by the team at RocketWerx instead since RokComments was designed specifically for Joomla. See the section above for more information about RokComments.
- Are you using a RocketTheme by RocketWerx?
Some of the RocketThemes have the IntenseDebate RokComments Extension installed by default. The reason you are seeing an error message is because IntenseDebate is installed but hasn’t been configured yet. To correct the issue, create an IntenseDebate account, and use the instructions detailed above to configure IntenseDebate.

Please use the following instructions to remove IntenseDebate manually from your template.
- Make sure you have backup of your template
- Locate our code in your template. Use ctrl + f to find: intense
- Remove tags like:<!–start intense–>
- Make sure you remove all tags name intense.
- Save your template
