WordPress Plugin

IntenseDebate offers an amazing WordPress plugin, built and maintained by WordPress core contributors.

Data Synchronization

We provide the best and most dependable data sync available, so you’ll always have all of your comments if you ever change your mind and uninstall. Every single comment submitted via IntenseDebate is automatically synced to your database and WordPress comments. Our plugin automatically imports all of your previous WordPress comments when you install.

IntenseDebate runs parallel to your WordPress comments so if one of your readers has JavaScript disabled in their browser then they will have access to all comments. Any comments posted in WordPress will be imported into ID.  This also means that all comments are indexed by search engines, so you won’t lose any of the SEO goodness.

IntenseDebate degrades gracefully back to your native WordPress comments, in the event of latency so your site isn’t delayed loading. Any comments posted in WordPress during that time will automatically be imported into ID.

Installing↑ Table of Contents ↑

You can install IntenseDebate through your WordPress extend directory via your WordPress admin panel. You can also download the plugin here, or install at IntenseDebate.com/install.

Your comments and comment data will automatically be imported during the configuration process. This includes:

  • All previous comments
  • Commenter Gravatars
  • Discussion settings (that are applicable to ID)
  • Moderation and Blacklists
  • Post settings
  • Trackbacks and Pingbacks

3rd-Party Mobile & Desktop Apps↑ Table of Contents ↑

Since IntenseDebate syncs all of your comments properly to your database, all comments can be moderated via the mobile apps including WordPress for Android, iOS (Phone, iPod, iPad), BlackBerry, and Nokia.

IntenseDebate reverts to your standard WordPress comment form when viewed on mobile browsers, so your mobile visitors will still be able to comment quickly. Those comments are synced back to ID, while comments posted in ID are synced back to WordPress, so your commenters won’t miss a beat.

Widgets↑ Table of Contents ↑

We offer a Comment Stats, Latest Comments widget, Popular Blog Posts widget, and a Top Users widget. You’ll be able to install our IntenseDebate widgets directly through your WordPress admin panel without having to insert them directly into your theme.

To add an IntenseDebate widget to your sidebar, select the Appearance tab in your WordPress admin panel sidebar → select Widgets → drag the IntenseDebate widget from the Available Widgets or Inactive Widgets area on the left into the Sidebar area on the right. When you see a dashed line appear, you can drop the widget into place. You can also change the order of the widgets by dragging and dropping them around in the sidebar.

Please note: in order to use this widget install method, your theme must support widgets.
