WordPress Plugin »Disabling Trackbacks

IntenseDebate imports your trackbacks from WordPress when they are received. While trackbacks can be super-handy, we do receive requests to disable trackbacks.

The best way to disable trackbacks is through your WordPress admin panel. In your WordPress admin panel, select the Discussion tab in the left sidebar.  The Discussion module is used to turn the discussion options on/off for the post. There are checkboxes for:

  • Allow comments on this post
  • Allow trackbacks and pingbacks on this post

Uncheck the box next to “Allow trackbacks and pingbacks on this post” and you will be all set.  You will no longer display trackbacks in your WordPress comments, which will prevent IntenseDebate from importing your trackbacks and displaying them in the comment section.

This setting is also available in your in the WordPress post page (where you write and publish your blog entries).  That allows you to control trackbacks on a per post basis.

Please note: unchecking the box to “Allow comments on this post” will not remove IntenseDebate from the post.  Please see Disable Commenting on Posts to learn how to close the comment section to new comments.  You can also check out Add/Remove Comments on WordPress Pages for info on removing IntenseDebate from your WordPress pages.
